No Nap Katie

I think Katie's naps are coming to end. So sad. I really love that peace of 1 less kid everyday. The past week, at least 3 times, she would go in her bed and just talk to herself for a 1/2 hour. Then want to come out. I think she is still to young! Those days I thought meltdown would come around 5 or so. She didn't even have ONE! *shaking head*

Yesterday she didn't nap, went to bed at 8:00 and was up at 5:15 today. UGH! Thankfully Chris got up with her. He knows that if I get up anytime before 6:00, I will be a beast for the day.

Look at her sweet face!

Happy Birthday Tommy!

My boy is 5 today. I can't believe it. Tommy is a good kid. He can be "not so tough" at times. But I can't complain.

He is Mr. Personality. We go to the Town Hall weekly (for the family business). He knows EVERYONE in there. So much they now stock M&M's, stickers and other stuff in their drawers for him. He has been going in since he was a newborn. He walks through the halls poking his head in the offices and saying hello to the Treasurer, Town Clerk, Building Dept, Board of Health, even the Selectman! It is very funny.

At 5, he stills has Daddy or I get him out of bed in the morning. He will not touch his feet to the floor unless we come in. It has its up and downs. But, he isn't getting up in the middle of the night climbing in our bed. In fact, he hates people sleeping with him! I try to lay with him and he tells me to leave and go in my own bed!

He has learned to ride a bike with no training wheels over the summer. That was HUGE! We bought him a new big boy bike for his birthday. He loved it!

Here he is over the years.

Riding his new bike we got him!

Off to See the Magician...NOT!!

On Tuesdays we go to the mall. They do some sort of kids show. Today was supposed to be a Magician. Well, he got caught in traffic and wasn't coming. Instead, Nancy, the woman who is about 55 and runs it, got to step up to the plate to entertain a bunch of preschoolers.

My word, what entertainment for the parents. You see, she is there every week with her blond hair in a pony tail and short black skirt. Remember, she is around 55. I swear, the male Senior Citizens who walk the mall were stopping to check her out. She usually wears heels, but after she found out she had to be the entertainment, she changed into her dancing shoes.

Of course, I had my camera and took some pictures and videos. I wouldn't let my Peeps down!

In all fairness, she did a great job and the kids loved her. It was just funny, as a bystander, to watch.

Katie is in the pink, Tommy in the orange.

Now, I know this one is quick, they are doing the train, listen to the music, the song is "It is Ladies Night" LMAO!

Thank You Staples Lady!

I want to give a shout out to the kind lady who works at Staples. She let me know that I had Katie's name tag sticker (from playgroup) on my back.

Now, why didn't anyone else tell me? Did the people at playgroup think, as an adult, I would put a crooked name tag on my back? Also, most of them know me and that my name is NOT Katie!

Did the teachers and parents at Tommy's preschool not notice it when I was dropping him off?

Did the other employees at Staples think I wanted them all to know my name? I walked around the store for 20 minutes before I was told it was there. I even asked 2 different employees questions and then walked away (back facing them!) after they answered me.

So this kind woman saved me from continuing my day and my errands with a kid name tag on my back. THANK YOU!

Apple Picking

We took the little ones apple picking this morning. This is my favorite time of year. I love the weather (when it isn't raining!) and the fun stuff to do. We went to a little apple farm near our house. It is very low key. You can be in and out within and hour and the kids have fun. I can't wait to cook an Apple Pie this afternoon!

Me and the kids. I made hubby take it. I was surprised he knew how to work the camera!
Off to the field!

Is it Halloween Yet?

Tommy got a Transformer Halloween costume yesterday. He put it on today and will not take it off! I did manage to coax him out of it to go to preschool, but it was only because I promised Candy Corn would be waiting for him.

We went to the Town Hall (several offices there), the Verizon store, a copy store and a local coffee shop today, all with him wearing it. It was so funny.

I wonder if he will wear it out before Halloween!

Walmart Torture

Every time I go to Walmart I am reminded why I don't go there. I went to the bookstore today (to get the 3rd book in the Twilight series, I LOVE IT!). Walmart is right next door. Sam need some hair products and I figure I will see what they have for Halloween Costumes.

I don't know about your Walmart, but ours seems to be dirty. Plus, they seem to be redoing the inside. Poor Katie was crying through the entire store because a lady wouldn't move her cart and she tripped and banged her head. Mind you, the lady SAW us coming. I was about to move her cart for her, when Katie tripped. That child cried and whined the whole rest of the shopping excursion. So much I forgot to use the darn gift card I had in my wallet from last year!

Note to self: Avoid Walmart at all costs. It isn't worth it.

Rain Rain Go Away!

I am so sick of the rain. It has rained everyday since Friday. BLAH!

Sisterly Love....NOT

Why can't sisters get along? I mean, really? What is so hard?

Casey has a new friend that moved to town. I will call her "C". I ADORE "C". She is sweet, cute and comes from a nice family. I have encouraged their hanging out more and more. I think she is a good influence. She has spent a lot of time at our house in last week.

Well, Casey has never been one to like sharing. This now includes "C". When "C" is here, Sam likes to talk to her and hang out with them. Casey DOES NOT like that! I am trying to explain that she should be happy that her sister likes her friends and they can all get along. Casey feels that Sam is "stealing" her. Which can't be more further from the truth. What would a high schooler want to steal 12 year old?

It all came to a head in the mall yesterday. The 3 girls shopped while I took the little ones to a puppet show there. I had the "talk" with them before we went. Everyone was to get along, everyone was to include everyone...yada yada yada. Apparently Casey didn't like Sam having conversations with "C". She ended up mad, in the bathroom crying. It was horrible, embarrassing. Poor "C" felt awful and torn between 2 sisters. We ended up leaving.
I apologized to "C" for Casey's behavior and offered to bring her home. She didn't want to go! She wanted to come back to the house! (I am still scratching my head on that!)

In the end, they are all ok. Casey is not allowed friends over for a while. I know this is the start of my teenage girls and their differences. I just wish they came with a manual or their own private therapist!

I SURVIVED!

I don't know how, but I survived the birthday party. I did have my friend "Mr. Smirnoff Ice" with me to help.
Casey had 25 friends over. Boys and girls. It was drizzling, but they still were outside and in. There was a trail of wet grass from my slider to the basement. They trashed my basement, but I made Casey and her friend clean it. Ugh, it smelled like wet boys down there!
She got a ton of gift cards, money, make-up, jewelery and everything else a 13 year old girl would want.
Rest assure, I will NEVER do that again! I will buy them the biggest present ever, just to avoid a giant party.

Teenage Party and Rain

These 2 things don't mix.
Casey is having her 13th birthday party tonight at 5. All she wanted was a boy/girl party, I gave in. She invited about 25 friends and it is supposed to rain ALL DAY! Please pray for a break in the weather for us. If not, I will have all those hormonal kids inside my house! What will I do?

Date with a 4 Year Old

Sunday Tommy and I went on a date. Just the 2 of us. We went to the King Richards Faire. It is a renaissance fair that they have every year, for several weeks. It is fun. It is like being in a medieval town. People walk around all dressed up and chat with each other, there are shows, jousting tournaments, food and shops. My dad used to take me when I was kid, so it is neat to be able to take my children.

Tommy got Knighted (by King Richard himself), went to Pirate 101 class, watched a jousting match, played games and ate food. We had such a great time. That is, until he got sick. It was scary. All of a sudden, towards the end of the day, he told me his head hurt and he wanted to leave. We headed to the bathrooms (we live an hour away) and waited our turn. All this while holding him because he wouldn't let me put him down. All of a sudden he starts throwing up! Of course, everyone let us jump the line and head right to the next available stall. I got him all cleaned up and settled. We headed to the car. I stopped by the gate to get my keys out (knowing I would still be carrying him) and for him to have some water. We get to the car and he starts throwing up again and crying his head hurts. UGH! I look over to see some EMS guys helping someone and had a passerby flag them down. They came over looked at him and started putting ice packs all over him to cool him down. We spent the next 1/2 hour with them. They were wonderful. They think it was a combination of something he ate and the sun. He fell asleep before we left the parking spot and slept the whole ride home, throwing up one more time. Thank God he was back to normal just a few hours later. Way to end a date!

Here are a few pictures of our date.

Another Teenage Girl in the House!

My Casey is 13 today. How will I handle 2 teenage girls? Scary!

I want to tell you a little about her.

Casey is my spunky, determined, strong willed child. She is the one who gives me gray hair. She doesn't like when anyone, I mean anyone, tells her what she doesn't want to hear. She will try her hardest to change their mind.

She also will defend her family to the fullest. My favorite story to tell people is about when she was in 1st grade. There were 2 fourth grade boys on her bus. They were making fun of her sister, Sam. I had held Sam back that year, so the boys were teasing her. Casey started mouthing off to them. The bus driver reported her, I got a call from the principal and she got a warning. Well, the boys kept it up. Casey had enough. She punched them both in the face. My little 6 year old girl beat up 2 ten year old boys. Of course, I got another call and she was suspended off the bus for 2 days. The principal said the boys got punished too were totally embarrassed.

Any sport Casey does, she does it fantastic. Her specialty is gymnastics. She has been doing competitive gymnastics since she was 9. She is unbelievable at it. She always makes it to the State level competition and ends up in the top 3. She also loves soccer. She is a star player. She has played indoor and outdoor for many years.

This Saturday she is having a "13 year old bash". All she wanted was a boy/girl party. So I gave in. She just handed out 26 invitations! Please pray that it does not rain, so they can all be outside!

Her are some pictures of my girl through the years.
