Dear Mr. Valet,

Dear Mr. Valet,

I usually do not use the valet service at the hospital. I try to get there in a timely manner so that I may use the parking garage across the street. It saves me $5.

Yesterday, I decided it was in my best interest to use it. Tommy had an appointment with his Allergist. It was at 2:15. I am not a big city driver and this was the 3rd time I have trecked it into Boston's Children's Hospital. I had tried a different way in since I had heard of an accident on the Mass Pike. It was a bad decision. My Navigation System, which I have not updated since the competion of the Big Dig, took me in a roundabout way. Because of that, I was running late.

I pulled in at 2:10. I decided I should suck it up and valet the mini van. It would save me lots of time. I was thrilled when I drove up and you told me I had a nice, warm smile. It made my stress a little less with your kind words.

I took my son to his appointment (which went great!) I came down and paid for the valet at the booth. I was surprised it was about the same as the parking garage, I would just have to tip you. So that just made it a few dollars extra. Totally worth it, I was thinking! I was on time for my appointment and my ego was boosted ny your compliment.

Boy was I wrong! You pulled my car up, I handed you a tip and the ticket and you quickly ran away. I realized why you ran as I was putting my son in his car seat.

MY CAR SMELLED LIKE GROSS FARTS!!!!

Are you kidding me? You could not hold your gas until you delivered my car?

You had to let it rip in my car, the 2 minutes it took you to get my car and bring it to me?

Why would you do that?

Why would you torture me so?

This has signed, sealed and delivered my reasoning never to use your service again. I will take the parking garage in the snow, sleet, rain or cold any day.

Sincerely,

Rebecca

Boys and butts......

How have your kids embarrassed you?

I got the MECCA of embarrassment yesterday.

I took the little ones to the mall to see a magic show. After we went to the food court with my BFF, her kids and one other friend and her kids.

There was 3 five year old boys all together. That should ring sirens right there.

Let me set the stage a little........3 families, 3 boys, other kids, middle of a mall food court, 12:00 which happens to be the rush hour lunch. So that means A LOT OF PEOPLE AROUND!

Us moms were cleaning up the table when I hear giggling. I look over and there is my son with the back of his pants pulled down, his tiny butt hanging out, walking in circles saying "Butt butt.....look at my butt!"

UGH.......I wanted to run away!

Why are boys fascinated with potty talk and body parts? Please tell me they outgrow this!

Snow

I love when they cancel school and it has barely started snowing! I know it for their safety, but it seems funny. It is supposed to snow all day today.

I am tired of it. I like the $ my husband makes plowing, but not the snow.

Is it bad that I will let the older girls sleep until whenever they want? That would make less fighting and arguing today that I have to listen to.

I think I was meant to live in a warmer climate. Can someone please tell my husband? Tommy tells me often how he wants to go back to Florida. He says it is "the best place in the world. There is no snow and you can wear muscle shirts!" That is enough to make me want to move!

Quiet Sunday Morning

So my husband does like me! (He has been not so nice all week)

He let me sleep in and took the kids to his parents for breakfast!

I am sitting her in SILENCE! Do you hear that? I don't because it is QUIET! Something I haven't heard (or not heard) in a long time.

AHHHHHHH........................

It Didn't Work.

Tommy puked. =(

He has been sluggish all day. I took them outside to play. He perked up. Wouldn't eat lunch.

We got ready for school. He cried he didn't want to go. This as been the norm for a few weeks (since kids were teasing him). I had to coax him out of the car.

He bawled walking in the classroom. "NO MOMMY! DON'T LEAVE!" I gave him a kiss and walked out. Hiding my tears.

Thank god my BFF was in the parking lot to comfort me. (Thanks Ash!) The teacher came out and said he was throwing up. =(

So I guess he won......he didn't have to stay at school.

Everyone Say and Pray together.......

NO PUKING KIDS!!!!

Katie threw up for the 3rd day in a row this morning.

Tommy was extremely tired yesterday and woke up this morning saying "My body feels shy today."

Please pray he doesn't get the stomach bug and no one else in the house gets it.

Signs, signs, everywhere there signs

Got the song in your head? I do!

Tommy is still making signs and hanging them up at our door. Here is a sample of past ones.

This week he has decided to make it known that dogs are not allowed at our house. The poor child is TERRIFIED of most animals. Especially dogs.

He once ran into the street because a cat walked near him, yes...he did.

We have no pets, nor will we ever. 4 kids is plenty of animals for me!

Here is the sign proudly displayed on the front door. I drew the dog (he is lucky it wasn't a stick figure dog!) He colored it in and made the red circle and slash.

Does it really work?

I keep seeing my teenage daughters shaking their cell phones.

When I asked them about it they told me that when the send a text/photo message, it sends faster if you shake the phone.

I started CRACKING up, Much to their dismay!

"No mom! It really works! I know it does!"

I am thinking it does not work, but who knows. Maybe they know something I don't.

Tommy's funny question

Tommy must have heard someone talk about the "Human Race".

So he asked me in the car today:

"Mom, how do you win the Human Race?"

My response?

"Ask Dad"

EDITED TO ADD A MISSING WORD. Thanks Karla!

Vacation- Part 1

I am back! I got home Saturday evening. We had a great time in Florida.

The highlight of the trip was going to Hollywood Studios and seeing Star Wars there. Tommy is a HUGE fan.

He got to make is own Light Saber.
He didn't put it down the rest of the week.
He battled like an American Idol
He battled Grampy on the beach.

At the house

And even Grammy in the driveway!

Katie got a driving lesson from Uncle Rob. As you can see, it didn't work out so well!

Thank God he has a lot of patience!

Busy Birthday!

Thank you for all the well wishes on my birthday! I love feeling loved!

Today was so busy. I went to my sister's wedding. Actually, I sorta crashed it. She was having a private ceremony with them and his 2 kids. I really wanted to be there. So I called her a few days ago and asked if I could come. I am so happy I did. She was happy we were there. She didn't have a anyone taking a video, so I made that my job!

Here we are together
The happy family!

Tomorrow I am off to Florida. If the snow doesn't screw up my plans! I am not sure how much I will post. HOWEVER, I do have my cook new Blackberry, so I will try!

35? WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!

I am 35 today. I feel like that is an "old" number. Sorry to offend anyone 35 or older.

I have never ever had a birthday bother me.

18- I loved being an "adult"

21- I was able to drink (even though I had 2 kids and was married already!)

30- I felt like I was finally old enough to have kids. Everyone ALWAYS said "Oh my, you are such a baby!" When I hit 30 I felt like they couldn't say that anymore. And they didn't.

35- Well, there was nothing to look forward to. I am determined to be HOT! I am going to start shedding the pounds and look good by summer. That way 35 won't go down as being a bad #!

My new toy!

My birthday is tomorrow! My husband got me a Blackberry! WAHOO! Well, I got it, stole his upgrade to his phone to make mine cheaper! =) He will pay the bill. What a guy.

Although, I have spent hours trying to figure it all out. I couldn't get the email to work. I finally called CS and all it was........a stupid box not checked off! GRRRR.........................

The CS guy did give me his email and direct line for future use. I must have made an impression!

Keep your fingers crossed!

I am supposed to leave for Florida on Sunday.

Doesn't it just figure that we have a snow storm coming in!

Doesn't it just figure I went with a cheap flight out of a small airport, hopefully it will just be delayed. If the cancel it, I am screwed. They have 1 flight a day out!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for me. I need to get out of this weather and go somewhere warm!

And doesn't it just figure that Katie has decided to take an interest in using the potty, just a few days before we go on vacation! GRRRRRRR

Such a Proud Mommy, I Am!

My handsome guy has been made fun of at school for his glasses. Poor guy. I had no idea.

For 2 weeks, before the holiday, he didn't want to go to school. He wouldn't tell me why. Well over the school break I found out why. I had banged his glasses, by accident.

He said "Well great! That is why I do not want to go to school! Because people make fun of me and call me "Silly Glasses Boy!"

My heart sank.

I called the preschool last week. School was to reopen today. They were so great. They told me how they would do a lesson on it. They would read "Arthur Get's New Glasses" and have a discussion on how everyone is different.

I told Tommy that would be happening at school. It wasn't good enough. He told me how he was going to stand up in front of all his friends and tell them how it hurts his feelings. I was happy, but figured he would NEVER do that, once he got to school.

Off we went today. I chatted with the teacher and told her what he wanted to do. She said ok, no pressure. She would ask him at circle time if he wanted to say something to the class.

I picked him up today and guess what? He did it! My 5 year old son, stood up in front of 20 kids and staff and said "I do not like it when you call me names and make fun of me and my glasses. It hurts my feelings. Please stop."

The teacher said she has never seen anything like it. She was so proud of him! I was too.

That made me feel like I am doing something right raising him!

Katie Cracks Me Up!

Today Katie made me laugh several times. I had to share.

The first:
They are rebuilding the gazebo here. My husband has volunteered his time to help rebuild it. I have taken the kids several times to visit him there. Well, today we were walking through the town common to the school, where I was going to register Tommy for Kindergarten *sniff sniff*
There are a bunch of men there framing the new Gazebo. As we were walking past them Katie, as loud as can be, yelled "HI DAD! HI DADDY!" Waving her hands.
Why is this funny you ask? Well because Daddy wasn't there! She was saying that to a bunch of strange men who all had a puzzled look on their faces! I laughed and kept walking.

Second:
Chris put her to bed. He let her sleep with a flashlight. BAD IDEA!
About 20 minutes later we hear he calling us. We walk in and she is wearing nothing but a diaper and holding a dress. She had gotten out of bed, went in her closet, picked out a dress and wanted to put it on. She was saying "I wear this! I wake up. I not sleep."

Oh that crazy kid! It is moments like that, that make parenthood all worth it!

Haircuts!

I took the kids yesterday to get haircuts. We went to Snip Its. It caters to kids. Katie has never had a professional haircut. Just the kind Mom does in the tub. yes, not so hot. She was starting to look like a grub.

I have tried to get her to sit and get a real haircut. She would usually cry, shake and scream. This time I thought if I went to a kid friendly place and pay a whopping $18 for a haircut, she would sit. SHE DID!

Her and Tommy were super excited when we got there. While they waited they played on the computers.
When their name was called she announced "Tommy go first!" I thought that was the start of it all going downhill.
Then, the moment of truth! It was her turn. She got right up in the chair and kept saying "I a big girl!"
They even put a little bow in her hair!
The end result? 2 good looking kids!

I am throwing with one in for Katie. After taking her picture she wanted her prized monkey in it.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

Can you see me doing the Happy Dance?

Not only do I love Mondays, when my routine is back to normal. I SUPER love today. The kids are back to school, after having almost 2 weeks off!

However, we have a 2 hour delay. I guess it is icy out there. HOWEVER......we are the only school in my area with a delay. The next closest is almost a 1/2 hour away! What is up with that?

I have a feeling the local DPW dropped the ball. I bet they didn't realize the weather and didn't get out to sand and salt early enough. UGHHHHHHHH!

Today's Project

Today I was determined to make a craft area in the playroom for the kids. They have been using my dining room table lately. It was annoying.

Katie has turned into a Crafting Queen at the ripe ole age of 2 1/2. Tommy used to NEVER like to color or do anything. At school the teachers would say to me "He isn't the most crafty one, is he?" It was always a treat for him to being a picture home. I think seeing Katie enjoying it is starting to change his mind.

It was nothing spectacular I did. But it works! I dug out our 6ft table we use for parties. I covered it then added a few folding chairs we had. And Viola.....the craft area was born!

I bought some organizing stuff. Drawers for the paper, stickers, beads, glue etc.....

The kids love it!

Katie started painting. I had never let her before for fear of wrecking my table. She loved it. She was doing it so nicely.
Then Tommy called me in. She started to finger paint instead!

I am so happy they have a place of their own to color and create!

Writings of a Preschooler

Isn't it great when your child, who has yet to enter Kindergarten, starts trying to spell.

Tommy, 5, has been doing this. He LOVES to try to spell out words. They are so cute to see.

Until.......You get this. He was mad at everyone. It started with an innocent one he posted on our front door for anyone coming over to see.
Then he secretly wrote something, rolled it up, taped it together and said he was giving it to someone he doesn't like. However, he wasn't sure who that was. It sat on the counter for a few days. I forgot about it until this morning. I opened it and this is what is was:
It reads: "YOUR STUPID"

OK, how can you not giggle at that?

Toilet Paper

Yes, I am going to talk about Toilet Paper!

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the big deal is about replacing the toilet paper?

I mean really, when you are using the toilet and you use the last of it, replace it. Please do not leave the empty roll for the next person. The next person will not realize they need to get new TP until they have done their business and go to reach for it.

There is nothing more frustrating then doing your stuff and realizing the jerk before you (yes, it is probably someone in your family and they are a jerk for doing this to you!) left the empty roll. Now you must get up, drippy and all, and get some out of the closet. UGH.

What is worse? When you go to the closet or under the sink, and realize there is nothing! NOW WHAT??????

Oh I could go on and on. But as you see, this has recently happened to me. Not once, but twice the past 2 days!

I think I may steal all the TP and leave it all empty (in all 4 bathrooms!) and see what they do. Do you think they will learn their lesson? I bet not! You know what they will do? They will call me on their cell phones to bring them some! (yes, they have done that too!)
