WAHOO!!!

OK..now I am screaming like a 13 year old like DiPaola Mommy!

Yes, Tom Bergeron accepted me on FB and sent me a private message. OK, so it wasn't a big message or one of him telling me he loved me.....but still....he sent me a short, but sweet message.

Hi Rebecca!
I hope you enjoy the book!
Best,
Tom

OK....so I friend requested him with a message that I won his book and gave him my blog to check out......Maybe he didn't Google himself and find me.......I am ok with that! I am still hoping he peeked at my blog.

Any hooo......he is now my friend on Facebook!

We have a winner!

And it is me!!!!!!

DiaPaola Mommy was giving away "I'm Hosting as Fast as I can: Zen and the Art of Staying Sane in Hollywood" written by Tom Bergeron.

I am a HUGE fan of Dancing with the Stars fan. Seriously......huge!

Also, I remember Tom while he was on the local TV station here in Boston. Even though I was young, I still remember him.

So yes, before he became big and famous on DWTS, Hollywood Squares and Americas Funniest videos, he was right here with me.....well....in my area!

I am hoping Tom will google himself and see me talking about him! Yes, I want that email that DiPaola Mommy got. Lucky Nugget she is! I think I would fall off my chair and die. She screamed like a 13 year old girl. I want that feeling!

So Tom, if you see this, I love you. I have liked you from your Boston days, 25 years ago! **I hope that is not sounding stalkerish** Remember us little people in Boston and throw me a line!

Thank you DiPaola Mommy for my book. I can't wait to get it! Good summer reading!

Go check out her blog! I truly love her. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is a mom of 4 like me. Her post today will make you bust out laughing!

Calling all moms of teenagers!!!!!!!!!

Will my teenage daughter ever like me again?

Casey seems to just hate me. I can't do anything right. I can't ever make her happy. We butt heads constantly.

Although, she would be happy if:
  • I gave her endless amounts of money
  • Didn't care about her grades
  • Let her go wherever she wanted
  • Let her stay up all night
  • Let her be on the computer during the school week
  • Didn't have to take her cell phone away during the school week
  • Let her watch endless amounts of TV
  • Didn't make her do her own laundry
  • Didn't make her clean her room
And basically, didn't speak to her.....ever.

The Best Sound

The best sound this morning is Kate and Tommy giggling in the other room!

They have hit that awful sibling rivalry lately.

Today, I hear them laughing.

Katie whispers "I like your hair"
Which in turn sets Tommy laughing.

Tommy takes hold of the situation and asks "Katie, can you go get my blanket?"
Instead of yelling at him she says "OK!"

I wonder if he is actually playing nice or using her kindness this morning to his advantage!

Whatever it is, I will take it!

Nebraska, another counrty?

My older girls have a brother who is 18. (If you don't know, I am divorced from their dad).

Scott has been in my life since he was 2. He is still a part of my life. When he was not in college, he would spend the summer with me and my husband. Sadly, he has no relationship with his father. But his sisters Sam and Casey adore him and miss him so much. (So do I!)

Anyways, my little kids LOVE Scotty also. He lives in Nebraska and we haven't seen him in a while.
He has a birthday coming up next week. I was talking to Tommy about it.

ME: Tommy, did you know Scott has a birthday coming up?

TOMMY: Really? How come we haven't seen him?

Me: Because he lives in Nebraska with his mom and that is really far.

Tommy: OH, does he speak another language in Nebraska?

Me: No, he still speaks English.

Tommy: Did he ever live in America ?

Me: Nebraska is part of America

Tommy: Oh.

So priceless.

Poison Ivy, what the heck!

I want to thank my sister Michelle for giving me Poison Ivy. Well, she didn't really give it to me, but I talked to her and now I have it!

I have NEVER had Poison Ivy. In fact, when I was in elementary school I laid in a patch of it and rubbed it all over me so I would get out of going to school the next day. Yes, I thought it would appear by the next morning. No such luck.

My husband is HIGHLY allergic to it. He just seems to look at it and he gets a horrible case of it. He usually needs pills and a steroid shot.

Me, I never get it. Until now. At the age of 35.

I saw, what I thought, might be Poison Ivy in one of my flower beds. I thought of the famous saying, "Leaves of 3, let it be". Well, I didn't let it be. I pulled it out and threw it in the woods. With no gloves. What did I have to worry about? I have never had it! I went about my merry little way. I washed my hands when I went inside.

Yesterday afternoon I see a weird, small patch on my arm. Later, I see a patch on my face. Yes, folks, my face! By bedtime, I have some under my chin. This morning, yet another small patch on my face.

So thank you darling older sister. I thought you loved me.

White Trash Birthday

Katie's birthday turned into a yard tractor demolition derby.

Daddy and Uncle Craig decided it would be fun. Slightly dangerous, but fun.

As you see in this video, my darling husband eventually tips his over. He is lucky he didn't get hurt.

He then moved on to trying to go up a big rock and then letting it go.

The kids LOVED it! Katie kept calling it her "birthday show" saying it was "Magic!" It was funny.
Tommy asked if Daddy could put on a show when it was his birthday!

Birthday Party...

We had Katie's birthday party this weekend. It was great. The rain held off and everyone was outside!

The day started wonderful. All the kids played.

We had the cutest Tinkerbell cake

Katie even sang to herself!

She opened a ton of presents!

Then fell asleep on the floor when everyone left!

She slept from 5pm until 7am!!!

But I think she was worn out from her birthday "show" Daddy put on!

TO BE CONTINUED..............................you do not want to miss part 2...called "Katie's White Trash Birthday!" Video and all!!!!!!!

Our Baby Birds!

Every year birds seem to nest in my door hangers. They did the same this year. Although this year they really made a mess of the door hanger and I will have to throw it away.

The kids really enjoy it seeing it.

We watch the birds go in and out to build the nest. Then after we think she has layed the eggs, we peak. This year there were 4 eggs.

The other day we noticed the activity. I am sure they hatched last week. But we didn't realize it. They are now bigger and can pop up and jump around. They look like they are ready to fly away any day.

Happy 3rd Birthday Katie Mae!

Dear Katie,

Today you are 3 years old! I can't beleive it! It seems like yesterday you were born!
All your siblings adored you the moment you came into our lives.
Casey couldn't get enough of you and wanted to hold/snuggle you all the time. It was hard to make her give you back!
Sam turned into your other mother. Even telling me things she thought I was doing wrong or when she thought you needed to be fed. She still does and you two have such a special bond.
Tommy loved FINALLY being a big brother.
And your dad wasn't sure what to do with a baby girl! You quickly won his heart over and still have it in the palm of your hand!
Anywhere he is, you like to be!

We were all so surprised to see your dark hair and chubby face! We think you were storing food for the winter in there!

At 9 months old we got your pictures done with a special dress your Auntie made for you. It was gorgeous! I hope someday to pass it on to your children!
Birthdays are always special in our house! We loved seeing you turn 1!
Especially with the special made Backyardigans crown your friend Annie made for you! We still have it!
By your second birhday you got what was going on and was THRILLED to see the cake coming your way!
Today marks another year.

You keep amazing me every day with all your new found talents. Whether it is riding a bike, using the potty or just being sassy.

It still makes me sad every time you achieve a new milestone. Although I am thrilled to see it, I know you are my last child and try to treasure every moment.

Thank you for making my life complete. You make being a mom a joy. I look forward to being your mom forever!

Happy Birthday Katie Mae!

Love,
Mom

My Little Katie

The girl drives me bonkers.

I put her to bed. 10 minutes later she is screaming "MAMA!! MAMA!!"

I am thinking she has to pee. So I charge up the stairs.

You know why she was screaming?

"Mama, I have a snooger on my finger!"

Yes, she had a big ole booger on her finger and needed to get rid of it.

At least she didn't eat!

Happy Belated Momma's Day!

I hope all you Momma's had a great day! Mine was! It was busy though!

The day started with a soccer game. Casey had a make up game. It was 45 minutes away. Coach made up for it by bringing coffee and donuts!

We spent the rest of the afternoon in the yard. I mowed the lawn. Yes, you heard it right. I mow the lawn. I actually love it. We have a ride on. It is 45 minutes that NO ONE can talk to me. I put my iPod in and go. If the try to talk to me, I ignore them....I can't hear them over the engine!

My garden got put together and stuff planted.

We bought a new grill. That is exciting for me! We are going to hitch it right up to our gas line! No more propane tank and worrying if it will run out in the middle of cooking!

We ended the day with my favorite take out. Thai food. Man, was it good! My mother in law and sister in law came over. Both their hubby's are away. It was nice. The 3 of us sat around after dinner while Chris cleaned up and made coffee. Good man!

I ended the day on the couch, no kids and watching the Amazing Race finale. I KNEW the Victor and Tammy would win. They really were a great team! Although, I was rooting for Margie and Luke. It would have been great to see the mom/son (who is deaf) win. They were so close!

True love in the form of a 5 year old

Tommy went to a Kindergarten tour yesterday. I can't beleive he is going in September!

While there he saw his "wife". They have been an item for well over a year. I asked them to get together so I could take a picture. This is what I got!

Potty training at it's best!

Now that Katie is fully potty trained *jumping for joy!* she goes in the potty a lot!
Not just to pee. If she needs to "let some gas out" she goes and sits.

Some kids are afraid of the flusher, Katie LOVES to flush. I am convinced she goes to sit just because she wants to flush. That is ok with me! As long as she is doing it.

Yesterday she had to join me in the bathroom while I "went". God forbid I pee alone.
After she looked at me, while she was patiently waiting to flush, and said
"Momma, you want me to wipe you?"

How precious! Little does she know that in about 50 years she may be doing that! She should take her time offering!

OUCH

In my journey to running for a 5K and getting into shape, I have just started the Couch to 5K program.

This is thanks to my friends Tanya and Cec. (Thanks for inflicting the pain on me!) However, they have been a great support for me and trying to figure it all out.

Since I had been running (if you want to call it that) I figured I could jump into week 4. Ya....big mistake. I couldn't finish it. It looked it easy, until I went to do it! So last night I went and started week 3. It was still tough, but I got through it.

I am achy this morning! I am not sure if it was from last night or that I was had been going every night for the past 6 days.

I think I am taking a break today. My body will thank me tomorrow!

Totally Cool Giveaway!

John Deere Mom has the BEST giveaway for boys or even your husband! Actually, I can picture myself "teaching" Tommy how to use it. That would be the only chance I got to play with it!

My Tommy and Hubby would LOVE this! This is one toy I know would keep him outside for hours!

Who wouldn't want this?

Go to her blog and check out how to enter!

It is Official!

I just registered for my first 5K! June 20th I will be running the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Race for ALS.

Wish me luck! I started running about a month ago. I am getting better each time. I am still not up to a 5K, but with 7 weeks to go, I think I can do it!
