As you may know I am running my first 5K at the end of the month. A local one, Sharon Timlin Memorial Race.
When I started running I could not even run the length of my backyard without wanting to stop!
Well, this weekend I ran my first 2 miles without stopping. That is huge for me!
My trick? I ran it on the main road (I have been running in the neighborhood) so I would:
A) Run so I wouldn't get hit by a car
B) Run without stopping because I didn't want anyone to see me stop and think I was a loser!
It worked! I did it!
I have 3 weeks to get that solid 3 miles in. I know I can do it.
The best part? I have realized I love running. I do it with no kids. It is peaceful.
I have also lost some inches on my waist line and fit into some capris I didn't fit in last Spring.
Now that is all the motivation I need!

Way to go! I am waaay to much a wimp to run, I'll admit it. Good luck with your first 5K!
Way to go. I used to run all the time but never did a race. After I having kids I have just ran every once in a while. It is hard to get back into once you stop. I was thinking that after this pregnancy I would sign up for a race as motivation. It sounds like lots of fun.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!! That is awesome! Are you the one who mentioned the c25k? You totally turned me onto that & I LOVE LOVE LOVE that program... its so much fun & has actually made me look forward to running!!!!
When I get through this - I'm totally going to do the plan for the 8k & then the 10k... you should to if you are loving running so much!!!
Cant wait for your 5K day!!!
Yay! Good Job! That makes me wonder, if I actually had an opportunity to get out and run with out kids, if I'd like it..I've always figured I didn't like running because I've never done it...lol...guess that's a dumb assumption to make.

Great job girl! I have never liked running, even when I was thin. But I have hopes that by this time next year I will have enough weight off to be able to run without dying if I want to lol!
Awesome! I have never been a great runner, but I agreed to run a 1/2 marathon w/my sister in November and I am slowly starting to like it more and more. Congrats on the miles, and your motivation is similar to mine- don't want the drivers to think I'm a wimp and can't finish my run! Whatever works, right?
This is almost enough to motivate me. *sigh* Maybe on of these days! Congrats!
You go! It's totally an hour of peace and reflection and that is why I do it too.
I'm so happy for you.
Woooo hoooooo! Go Rebecca!!!!!
